We use a mix of Honda CRFL and Kawasaki KLX all upgraded from stock.
As with every dirt bike tour company in Thailand we are all limited to using only the Hondas and the Kawasakis built in Thailand due to very heavy import duty however, these bikes upgraded to the standard we have done are perfect for this type of terrain. You will find the lighter bikes an absolute blessing over a bigger heavier bike on the trails we ride. Trust our experience.
The basic tour schedule starts in Chiang Mai, Northern Thailand. We pick you up on the first day of the ride and take you to our bike yard to gear up and choose a bike. From there we take a short trip on road out of the city and onto the dirt taking you to a different location each evening and only returning back to Chiang Mai on the last day. On our home page we have an artical on the typical day.
Pack as you would for a normal holiday. A few changes of clothes, any medicines you require, a camelbak to keep yourself hydrated and some cash for your evening meal and beers. Take a back pack to carry cameras/phones with you each day. ATM machines are available, and wifi, is available most nights.
You should always travel with insurance especially on a motorbike tour.
Once you have paid for your flights and tour depending on your eating and drinking habits we suggest around $40 per night. Some people spend lots more than that some a lot less but $40 bucks should see you enjoy yourself each night.
Our dirt bike tours operate in very remote regions and you will love that as thats where the best trails are, miles away from civilisation. Our accommodation on most tours are chosen by the trails we use to limit the amount of road riding however, all are usually way better than most people initially percieve, Small rural boutique resorts, mountain top lodges and a few more modern places in the bigger towns we stay.
Due to the rural locations and the limited availability of rooms we ask that all riders share rooms (2 per room-2 beds) as especially on bigger tours we simply do not have enough rooms available to us to give private rooms. On saying that...Dual Terrain tours we have a little more availability and if spare rooms are available you can upgrade on the night.
Most mornings we leave around 9 am after breakfast, some trips on some days we may leave earlier it all depends on the local conditions and the schedule for that day.
Yes, just tell us how many and we will run a parallel tour for them meeting us each night with their own english speaking guide.
Even with group bookings some of the members ride at different speeds but we're experienced enough and with one of the best support crews in Thailand we can hep the tour run fluid by dividing the faster and slower riders but all riding the same trails. Worst case scenrio if you feel you are struggling we can put you on a parralel tour maybe on road or easier trails while the rest of the group keep with the schedule. You will always be riding and always meet at the same place each night. Trust our expeirence.
We take a $200 deposit in cash before you take the bike. You will get that back at the end of the tour if there's no damage that we feel needs charging for.
It's actually difficult to asses a rider before they arrive, we've had people who have a bike licence but have very little experience who were brilliant on the tour, on the flip side people who said they are expereinced but couldn't handle the trip at all.
Sorry, but no children on tour.
If tours are booked by multiple individuals we usually fix the group size to a maximum of 6-8. For large groups (one booking) we will take up to 14 riders (with extra support crew).
Getting a dicky belly is very very rare in Thailand, ice is fine to have in your drinks and use bottled drinking water.
